International Women's Day Special: Three Shows That Celebrate Strong Women

Author News DeskNews Desk, March 8th, 2019

Happy International Women's Day!

Today we're celebrating International Women's Day by looking at three Broadway shows that celebrate strong women. From Waitress to Wicked, Broadway is full of wonderful female performers, creatives and directors, and we here to cheer them on!

WAITRESS

Waitress made history when it opened in 2016 with all four top creative spots filled with women! With a book by Jessie Nelson, music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles, direction by Diane Paulus and Choreography by Lorin Latarro Waitress tells the story of one woman (Jenna) realising her inner potential. With three leading ladies, Waitress is a musical about women for...everyone! From exploring their own talents to how they want to be loved, the women of Waitress show the power that women have!

WICKED

Another history maker - Wicked broke the mould in 2003 and was one of the first Broadway musicals to pass the Bechtel test. Another musical that shows women that they can do anything and the power of true friendship, Wicked has inspired people all over the world to defy gravity! So whether you're a Glinda or an Elphaba raise your brooms in the air for strong women everywhere!

DISNEY'S FROZEN: THE BROADWAY MUSICAL

It's all about sisterly power with Frozen. These icy princesses prove that men don't have to rule on Broadway or that they need heroes! Full of awesome songs, bravery and the power of sisterly bonds Frozen is the perfect musical from the youngest fan to the oldest. So whether they're your blood relative or a super close friend, show your sisters that they are awesome and shower them with love, magic and let it go with Frozen!

However you're celebrating International Women's Day we hope that it's a special one!
