I was fortunate to see Grand Funk Railroad in 2011 at the Columbus Fairgrounds for a Union benefit show, and it was fantastic. They put on one of the best concerts I've ever seen, and I've seen many. They never disappoint their audience.

Disappointed

Well have also been a GF fan since 69's On Time and seen the original and this incarnation a few times-in Lafitte a few years ago in Nov was cold with only a handful of folks watching but was right in front Mel one of my favorite bass men and was great. OK we were stuck in a huge wreck traffic in NO east and finally got to the HR showroom at 8:20 so missed half the show and then discover Mel not playing! Leaves only Don; the substitute guy did OK but not the same as Mel (who we learned later talking to the band in the cafe that he had the flu). The instruments were all good and though as other mentioned Max is not the greatest vocal especially compared to MF and then the Inside looking Out OK but again not the same without Mel. They ended with of course Were an AB and left at 9:15! No encore! So again music was fine just let down due those circumstances. But Max is a friendly guy shook hands with me in the cafe and very jovial but still glad not pay more than the $35.

Instrumentals were great

Please Don Brewer Call Mark Farner and do what you have to do to get him back. Saw the show last night. This guy can't sing. I was embarrassed for him. I've been a funk fan since the beginning.
