Why see Complexions Contemporary Ballet?

A Love Letter to David Bowie

Boundary-breaking dance company Complexions Contemporary Ballet evolved from the Alvin Ailey dance troupe, where principal dancers Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson realized their choreographic dreams with the birth of a new company in 1994. The world-renowned outfit comes to the Music Centre's Dorothy Chandler Pavillion this spring for a program of works that includes repertory pieces and a bold new work called Start Dust, a movement celebration of the life and music of David Bowie.

In the decades since its inception, Complexions established a world-class name through dynamic, bold works that reflect the culture and struggles of the modern African American. Fusing ballet, contemporary and street dance, the company is the perfect pairing with genre-bending icon Bowie in this glam-rock inspired piece.
