Great concert

Van and his awesome band delivered last night. His voice was strong and he performed something for everyone. Old and new. Loved “Cleaning Windows”! His band was unbelievable. So so talented. They all seemed to enjoy playing as much as us. Van was his usual “ all business”, but all about the music is fine with me. We had excellent seats which was a total surprise to us. Seen Van several times and this was on e of the best. I’d go Sunday night if I had a ticket. ... Read more

Van the Man!

Drove up from OC to check out Van at the intimate Santa Barbara Bowl. For the whiners here who were disappointed with the show here or elsewhere, oh well! If you go to a Van Morrison show expecting to see a greatest hits show, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. The dude has written hundreds of songs over the past 55+ years so why would you expect him to play only a handful? The first part of the show featured terrific takes on the skiffle songs on his latest disc, then his own I’ve Been Working and a Sam Cooke number before he ran through his spiritual-themed songs, with a wonderful version of Into The Mystic. A rousing version of Gloria topped it off, followed by a close out by the band as Van exited, a normal part of his routine. If you haven’t heard any of the songs he’s written since the early 1970s, shame on you. At 78, that distinctive voice still resonates. ... Read more
